Graston Technique® Module 2 Advanced
Goals and Objectives
Credits/Hours: 14 credit hours — 8 hours Upper Quadrant; 6 hours Lower Quadrant

Course Description: This course will emphasize a GT examination and treatment approach for musculoskeletal dysfunction/mechanical pain that can be applied in all patient cases.
Components of the GT examination will include movement loss, lesion localization and resistive testing. Preventative/corrective exercises that will augment the GT intervention will be discussed.
Participants will learn to select and implement the most efficient and effective GT interventions while restoring function and alleviating pain. The goal of this course is to advance skills in the
successful management of musculoskeletal dysfunction utilizing GT and movement.
Teaching/Learning Methods & Materials: Various teaching methods will be utilized consistent with the various levels of complexity of the learning objectives. Participants will
use Graston Technique® instruments for sections of the training. Methods include explanations, demonstrations, teaching, supervising, feedback and troubleshooting. Teaching materials will include
Power Point presentation, manual on CD and handouts.
Basic Objectives:
- Extend interest and commitment to personal development utilizing GT.
- Advance knowledge of general GT examination procedures in the management of musculoskeletal dysfunction/mechanical pain.
- Enhance clinical decision making skills during the application of GT.
- Advance repertoire of GT interventions for the management of musculoskeletal dysfunction/mechanical pain.
- Develop a higher level of skill acquisition for utilizing GT while introducing movement patterns to treatment.
Measurements: The clinician will be asked questions by the instructor and be observed in a laboratory setting. Clinician will
verbally review the GT examination and rationale for treatment protocol.
Proficiency: The clinician will demonstrate to the instructor use of GT instruments on the patient as well as patient placement and treatment. There is no written test at this
time.
